Cheesy Refried Bean Dip Recipe

Homemade bean dip is quick to make with simple ingredients and is one of the best bean dips to serve as a party food. While it can be served as a hot dip straight out of the oven, this easy refried bean dip is still good long after it’s cooled down to room temperature.

If you prefer to keep it as a warm bean dip, simply transfer to a small slow cooker or crock pot set to warm, and you’re good to go.

Ingredients for Baked Refried Bean Dip

You will need the following:

  • 16 ounces refried beans
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded and divided
  • 3 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 2 tablespoon scallions, chopped + extra for garnish

Ingredient Notes

  • Cream Cheese – Trader Joe’s brand vegan cream cheese is my favorite.
  • Sour Cream – I use Tofutti brand vegan cream cheese.
  • Refried Beans – Canned refried beans are recommended for convenience and a consistent creamy texture.
  • Taco Seasoning – A package of taco seasoning generally contains 3 tablespoons. The amount given is a suggestion; adjust to suit your personal preference.
  • Scallions(Green Onions) – For add freshness and a pretty pop of color. Fresh cilantro can be used for a more herbaceous flavor.
  • Cheddar Cheese – Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack cheese also works well for this dip.
