FAQ
What is the difference between lo mein and pasta?
- Eggs. Traditional lo mein is usually made with egg-based noodles. Most packaged pasta, such as spaghetti or linguine tend to be naturally dairy-free.
What Asian noodles are vegan?
- Udon, rice, and ramen noodles are generally vegan and will work well for this recipe.
What is the difference between soy sauce and tamari?
- While the two can generally be used interchangeably, there are subtle differences. Soy sauce is lighter and saltier than tamari and is generally favored in Chinese cuisine such as lo mein. Tamari carries a slightly richer flavor and is more popular in Japanese cooking. Both work well for this recipe.
