Vegan Green Olive Dip Recipe

I like this easy recipe because it’s made with simple ingredients and packed with olive flavor. This creamy dip can also be used as a sandwich spread for tea sandwiches, adding a burst of zesty flavor.

The Best Olives to Use

  • This delicious dip is all about briny flavors and the easiest way is to use salty olives, such as Manzanilla olives or Castelvetrano olives. Black or kalamata olives are not recommended for this recipe. (Black olives are too mild and kalamata will give the dip an unattractive purplish tint.)

Quick Tips

  • Use a food processor to make quick work of chopping the olives.
  • An olive pitter is a helpful gadget to have on hand for those times when you accidentally purchase pitted olives. And why pitted olives are even an option anymore is a mystery to me. Who is actually looking for those?

Ingredients for Green Olive Dip

You will need the following:

  • 1 cup vegan cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup vegan sour cream
  • 1 cup pimento-stuffed green olives, pitted and finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons scallions, also known as green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive brine, juice from the jar of olives, or lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

How to Make Green Olive Dip

STEP ONE: In a large bowl, stir together, or use a hand mixer to combine the cream cheese and sour cream. Add the olives, scallions, olive brine, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until thoroughly combined.

STEP TWO: Adjust seasoning to taste and serve cold or at room temperature. Store any leftover olive dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
