Vegan Cheese Ball Recipe

I Iove a cheese ball, especially around the holidays. This recipe combines three types of cheeses with diced greed chiles, and seasoned salt. A quick sprinkling of chopped cilantro adds the finishing touch. The process is so simple and the result is so good!

The key to a delicious vegan cheese ball your guests will rave over (and ask if it really is vegan) is using high-quality ingredients. If you’re making this as a holiday appetizer or snack, now is not the time to try that new dairy-free cheese; use what you already know and love! If you need suggestions, see the Ingredient Notes below where I’ve listed the brands I used to make this amazing cheese ball.

This cheese ball can be served right away or refrigerated for up to a day in advance. To make ahead of time, simply follow the instructions through Step 2 and refrigerate the cheese ball. Sprinkle on freshly chopped cilantro just prior to serving.

Ingredients for Green Chile Cheese Ball

  • 8 ounces vegan cream cheese
  • 1 cup vegan pepper jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup vegan Havarti cheese with jalapeno, shredded
  • 4 ounces green chiles, drained and patted dry
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt

Ingredient Notes

  • Vegan Cream Cheese – This is the base of the recipe so use a brand you trust. I used Trader Joe’s vegan cream cheese. To me, it tastes the most like Philadelphia brand cream cheese.
  • Vegan Havarti Cheese with Jalapeno – Daiya makes this in block form. Break out the cheese grater and shred it until you get 1 cup. Pepper jack cheese will also work just fine.
  • Vegan Cheddar Cheese – I used Violife brand.
  • Green Chiles – Take extra care to drain the chiles well. After draining and squeezing out as much liquid as possible by hand, I like to spread them out and pat dry with a paper towel. This extra step will save your cheese ball from having too much moisture.
  • Seasoned Salt – This is an all-purpose blend of savory seasonings. I use Lawry’s brand.
  • Cilantro – For extra bright flavor and a pretty pop of color.

How to Make Green Chile Cheese Ball

STEP ONE: In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, Havarti cheese, cheddar, cheese, green chiles, and seasoned salt. Mix to thoroughly combine.

STEP TWO: Using your hands, form the mixture into a ball. Cover and refrigerate up to overnight.

STEP THREE: Sprinkle with cilantro, pressing lightly to coat all around. Serve chilled or room temperature.
