Greek Layer Dip ~
7 layers of Mediterranean flavors!
This easy, colorful, and crowd-pleasing dip is perfect for parties and ready in just 10 minutes. Serve with baked pita chips or fresh veggies.
I like this recipe because it can be as simple or involved as you like. Pre-made store-bought ingredients are an excellent time saver but if you’re inclined to make your own hummus, tzatziki sauce, or vegan feta, go for it!
Ingredients for Greek Layer Dip
You will need:
- 8 ounces plain hummus
- 8 ounces vegan tzatziki sauce
- 1/4 cup tablespoons red onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup kalamata olives, pitted and chopped
- 1/2 cup English cucumber, chopped
- 1/2 cup red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
- 1/2 cup vegan feta cheese, crumbled
Ingredient Notes
- Plain Hummus – With all the other flavors going on in this dip, plain hummus is my personal preference. If you want to try a flavored hummus, lemon dill style would be a good choice.
- Vegan Tzatziki Sauce – Homemade Tzatziki Sauce is easy to whip up in just a few minutes. However, if you prefer to use store-bought, Trader Joe’s makes an excellent vegan tzatziki dip. I’ve also seen non-dairy tzatziki at Target but I cannot confidently recommend that one since I have not tried it.
- Red Onion – No need to cook the onions; they will soften in the dip.
- Kalamata Olives – I love the rich, briny taste of kalamata olives. Black olives can be substituted for a milder flavor.
- English Cucumber – The English variety of cucumber is preferred for this recipe for their thinner skins and few seeds than “regular” cucumbers. If your cucumber has a lot of seeds, simply scoop them out prior to chopping.
- Red Bell Pepper – Orange or yellow peppers will work if red is not available. Green bell peppers are not recommended; they’re too bitter for this recipe.
- Vegan Feta Cheese – Homemade Vegan Feta is a great option, especially if pre-made feta is not available in your area. For convenience, I frequently use store-bought feta. My current favorites are Follow Your Heart crumbles and Violife, which is packaged as a block that is easily crumbled by hand.
How to Make Greek Layer Dip
STEP ONE: Onto a shallow 10-inch serving dish, spread the hummus in an even layer.
STEP TWO: Add the tzatziki sauce, spreading gently and being careful to not mix with the hummus layer.
STEP THREE: Sprinkle with red onion, kalamata olives, cucumber, and red pepper.
STEP FOUR: Add the final layer of crumbled feta cheese and serve.
