Oven Gnocchi Recipe

Can you bake gnocchi? Yes!

I like this recipe because gnocchi that has been roasted in the oven offers a crispy, chewy, and slightly more robust experience than boiled gnocchi. While boiled gnocchi is lighter and retains a more traditional texture, the slight caramelization that happens during baking gives roasted gnocchi a bit more complex flavor.

Ingredients for Roasted Gnocchi

You will need the following:

  • 16 ounces potato gnocchi
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Ingredient Notes

  • Gnocchi – Fresh or boxed gnocchi can be used for this recipe. If you prefer a lighter and more delicate texture with a homemade touch, fresh gnocchi is a great option. For a heartier texture, boxed gnocchi is a perfectly fine choice. Traditional gnocchi is made with eggs and since my store didn’t have any vegan gnocchi available that day, I opted for a high-quality boxed gnocchi instead, and I was pleasantly surprised by the result. It turned out fantastic and I would definitely choose it again in a similar situation.

How to Make Roasted Gnocchi

STEP ONE: Preheat the oven to 400°F.

STEP TWO: In a medium bowl, toss gnocchi with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Arrange the gnocchi in an even layer on a roasting sheet pan.

STEP THREE: Roast for 25 minutes, until lightly golden and crisp, stirring halfway through the cooking time.

STEP FOUR: Adjust seasoning taste and serve hot.
