Easiest Tofu Scramble Recipe
If you’re not sure how to make a basic tofu scramble, here is a very quick and easy method:
- Start by melting 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Crumble well-drained extra firm tofu into the pan and sprinkle with tofu seasoning blend (I use a scant 1 1/2 teaspoons for each 14-ounce package of tofu). Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently until heated through, and serve hot.
Scrambled Tofu Seasoning Recipe
I make tofu scramble on a weekly basis and have used this seasoning recipe for years. It’s been stored on a post-it size piece of paper inside my spice cabinet for easy reference and now that the writing is beginning to fade a bit I’ve decided to finally post the recipe here. You would think that after using these exact measurements every weekend over several years that I would have them memorized by now. Yet somehow I don’t and just keep digging for my little scrap of paper every Saturday morning. I would also only spoon out as much of each seasoning as was needed and finally decided it was time to make a bulk amount of this seasoning mix that I’m already using on a regular basis anyway.
Hardcore vegans may notice a cult favorite ingredient missing from this recipe: nutritional yeast. That’s right and it’s a deliberate omission. I’ve never been a big fan of nutritional yeast in scrambles for the simple reason that I just don’t think it tastes “eggy” or “cheesy”… or whatever it’s supposed to add. Some may disagree with me on this and that’s fine. I said what I said. 😊

You will need:
- 2 tablespoons salt, or to taste
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon ground turmeric
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground black pepper
How to Make Tofu Scramble Seasoning Blend
STEP ONE: In a small bowl, whisk together all ingredients.
STEP TWO: Store in a labeled airtight container in the spice cabinet.
