Beyond Impossible Burgers
This recipe yields 6 thick pub-style burgers or 12 hearty sliders.
These ultra meaty vegan beef and sausage burgers are made with a combination of Beyond Meat sausage and Impossible Foods ground beef. Perfect for cookouts or tailgating, these 100% plant-based burgers will satisfy even the most hardcore carnivores in the crowd.
You’re going to love these burgers!
They are:
- juicy and flavorful
- gourmet quality
- easy to make
- dairy-free
- egg-free
- vegan
- meaty without the meat
- perfect for feeding a crowd
You’re going to turn some heads with one.
Serving suggestions:
Pretzel buns – Pretzel bread makes for a perfect flavor pairing with the sausage in the burgers.
Grainy Dijon mustard – Adds a savory touch.
Red onion – For a little crunch and pop of color.
Sauerkraut – Because sausage and sauerkraut were made for each other.
Jalapeno peppers – Add slices of fresh or pickled peppers to kick up the heat.
Ingredients for Beyond Impossible Burgers:
- ground flaxseed
- Impossible Foods vegan ground beef
- Beyond Meat Hot Italian sausage
- pretzels – any shape is fine; they’re going to be chopped to breadcrumb consistency anyway (Pro Tip: Use a mini chopper to get the job done in seconds!)
- vegan mozzarella cheese
- red onion
- vegan Worcestershire sauce
- garlic
- cayenne pepper sauce
- sea salt
- ground black pepper
How to make Beyond Impossible Burgers:
For the flax egg:
Into a small bowl, add the ground flaxseed and 2 1/2 tablespoons of water. Whisk to combine and set aside.
For the burgers:
Into a large mixing bowl crumble the vegan ground beef and sausage. Add the flax egg mixture, pretzel crumbs, vegan cheese, red onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, cayenne pepper sauce, sea salt, and ground black pepper.
Using your very clean hands, mix everything together until evenly combined.
Divide mixture into 6 equal portions for burgers or 12 equal portions for sliders. Form into patties by rolling each portion into a ball. Then, using the palm of your hand, flatten to desired thickness.
Place patties on the preheated grill. Cook for about 7 minutes per side, or until heated through. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F.
Serve hot.
Cheers!
Can I use different brands of vegan beef and sausage?
Absolutely!
This post is not in any way sponsored by or affiliated with Beyond Meat or Impossible Foods; these are just the brands I use and recommend for this particular recipe.
Can I freeze these burgers?
Yes!
After forming the patties, wrap each burger individually in wax paper or parchment paper then seal in an airtight plastic bag before storing in the freezer.
Allow burger patties to thaw completely before grilling.

Update: not sure how much flax seed to use since it’s not listed above but I’ll just assume like two “eggs”/tablespoons worth 🙂
