Vegan Cream Cheese Frosting ~
A rich and creamy dairy-free frosting made with 4 simple ingredients.
This frosting is perfect for the holidays and everyday desserts, including the classic carrot cake, red velvet cake, and even cookies!
Ingredients for Vegan Cream Cheese Frosting:
vegan butter – Stick butter is easiest for measuring. Just cut up a full stick for the 1/2 cup of butter needed in the recipe.
vegan cream cheese – I like the firmness of Tofutti brand cream cheese for frosting.
vanilla bean paste – Personally, I prefer the flavor and thicker consistency of vanilla bean paste but vanilla extract can also be used in an equal amount.
powdered sugar – Also known as confectioners’ sugar.
How to make Cream Cheese Frosting:
Cream the butter. Into a large-size mixing bowl, add the softened vegan butter. Use a mixer on medium speed to beat the butter until the consistency is smooth.
Add the vegan cream cheese and vanilla bean paste, then continue mixing for 30 seconds, just enough to incorporate with the butter.
Mix in the powdered sugar. Switch the mixer speed to low then begin gradually adding the powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time until all is combined and the consistency of the frosting is thick but still spreadable.
Refrigerate until ready to use.
Enjoy!
