Easy Vegan Dinner Rolls ~
The classic pull-apart dinner rolls we all know and love!
These easy-to-make yeast rolls are soft, fluffy, perfectly bite-sized, and especially hard to resist warm out of the oven.
My daughter immediately inhaled two of them and exclaimed with her mouth full,
“These are SO GOOD, Mama!”
The dough comes together beautifully with a handful of common staple ingredients from the pantry and fridge and very little effort.
Especially if you’re like me, and opt to use a stand mixer to do the work of kneading the dough by hand.
I totally get that kneading bread dough by hand can be quite relaxing and even therapeutic at times but I’m all about the dough hook. But for all you hardcore bread makers out there, I’ve also included an approximate kneading-by-hand time. Don’t worry; it’s not bad at all. 🙂
Whichever method you choose, you’re going to love these rolls! And you just can’t beat the homey aroma of fresh bread dough baking in the oven.
These rolls will make a perfect addition to the holiday dinner table and – bonus! – they’re even easy enough for the kids to make!
I actually keep running lists of ideas for holiday and special occasion menus and have already added these dinner rolls to my Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas lists.
Ingredients Needed for Easy Vegan Dinner Rolls:
2 cups all-purpose flour, divided
2.25 ounces ‘Rapid-Rise’ active dry yeast
2 tablespoons white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons vegan butter
How to make Easy Vegan Dinner Rolls:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Into a large mixing bowl, add 3/4 cup all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, white sugar, and salt. Stir to combine the dry ingredients.
Into a small saucepan over low heat, add unsweetened almond milk, water, and vegan butter. Simmer just long enough to melt butter and heat through.
Into the mixing bowl with the flour mixture, add the milk and butter mixture.
Using an electric mixer, beat for 2 minutes on medium speed.
Add 1/4 cup all-purpose flour. Continue mixing for 2 more minutes on medium speed.
If using a stand mixer: Remove beater attachment from the mixer and replace it with a dough hook attachment.
Add the remaining 1 cup of flour.
If using a stand mixer, knead the dough for 5 minutes on low speed.
If you are working by hand, then knead the dough for about 10 minutes.
Using either method, continue until the consistency of the dough is smooth and elastic.
Cover and allow the dough to rest for 10 minutes.
Divide the dough into 12 equal size balls.
Arrange the balled dough in an 8″x8″ baking dish.
Cover the dough again and allow it to rise for 30 minutes.
Remove cover then bake in a preheated oven for 20 minutes.
When rolls are finished baking, brush immediately with additional butter. Add seasonings and spices, if desired.
Serve warm.
Cheers!
