Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 1/3 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  • Combine the yeast, brown sugar, and warm water in a medium mixing bowl or stand mixer. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, until the yeast starts to bubble and foam.
  • Mix in the salt, olive oil, and flour.
  • Knead by hand or use a dough hook on medium-low speed until the dough is smooth, elastic, and no longer sticky.
  • Lightly oil a medium bowl and place the dough inside. Cover and let it rise for about an hour, until it has doubled in size.
  • Place a pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 425°F.
  • Punch down the dough, then form it into a ball and let it rest for 5 minutes. Roll it out on a lightly floured surface into your preferred shape.
  • Transfer the dough to the preheated pizza stone, add your favorite toppings, and bake for 15–20 minutes, until the crust is golden.
