Add the black beans to a food processor and pulse until they’re partially mashed, leaving some whole beans for texture. Alternatively, mash them in a medium bowl using a fork or potato masher.
In the bowl with the beans, add the seasoned breadcrumbs, cilantro, yellow onion, the reserved 2 tablespoons of bean liquid, taco seasoning, and garlic. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
Divide the mixture into eight equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and gently press it into a patty.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Once hot, place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 3 minutes until lightly browned. Carefully flip each patty and cook for an additional 3 minutes until the other side is browned and the patties are heated through.
Place each patty on a lightly toasted slider bun and add your favorite toppings.
