Using a food processor or potato masher, puree or mash chickpeas to desired consistency. Set aside.
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add the smashed chickpeas, water, and taco seasoning, stirring to evenly distribute the seasoning.
Cook, stirring frequently, for 5-7 minutes, until heated through.
Spoon into taco shells, add your favorite toppings, and serve hot.
