Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 cups water
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • To a large mixing bowl, add flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
  • Stir dry ingredients together then add water, vegetable oil, and vinegar.
  • Mix just until blended.
  • Pour equal amounts of batter into two prepared 8" round baking pans. Bake 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • To make a single-layer 9x13 cake, bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
