Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons vegan butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups oat milk or other mild-flavored plant milk
  • 1 1/2 cup vegan smoked Gouda cheese shredded

Instructions

  • Into a medium saucepan over low heat, add the butter. When the butter is melted, add the flour. Whisk in the flour.
  • Gradually pour in the milk, whisking continuously until the milk is evenly incorporated into the mix. Bring just to a simmer for 3 minutes; do not boil.
  • Add the cheese and continue stirring until fully melted.
  • Keep the sauce at a low simmer, stirring occasionally, for an additional 5 minutes then remove from the heat and serve.
